"It was imprudent of us, in the first place, to become authors. We could have become something regular, but we managed not to.
We were lucky, but we were also determined." Roy Blount Jr

"I don’t change the facts to enhance the drama. I think of it the other way round, the drama has got to fit the facts,
and it’s your job as a writer to find the shape in real life."
Hilary Mantel

Bird Life

They're all so busy, darting about from feeders to forest.

The flicker isn't a constant visitor but turns up now and again in spring and autumn.

Not sure what he's after...

The excavation went on for quite some time. I decided he was digging all the way to China!

At the same moment, only a few feet away, the robin collects nesting materials.

We're glad the redbreasts have paired up. I hope it means that the narcissistic head-banging robin will cosy up to his spouse instead of courting his reflection in our glass windows at a very, very early hour of the morning.
