"It was imprudent of us, in the first place, to become authors. We could have become something regular, but we managed not to.
We were lucky, but we were also determined." Roy Blount Jr

"I don’t change the facts to enhance the drama. I think of it the other way round, the drama has got to fit the facts,
and it’s your job as a writer to find the shape in real life."
Hilary Mantel

Saturday Event

It was Old Home Day in our town, and three of our district's four State Representatives live here. So we showed up!

Although there wasn't a parade this year, we did enter our 1970 Cadillac convertible in the Cruzers' (sic) Competition. There were several categories of judging--People's Choice, Cruzers' Choice, and more.

While waiting to find out the results, we worked our way around the fairgrounds, mingling with constituents and visiting the diplays.

At a local garden center's booth, the hummingbird moths were all over this buddleia.

When I heard the announcement of the Cruzer Competition from the bandstand, I hurried over to join the line-up. By the time I got there, our (borrowed) car had just won the Cruzers' Choice Trophy!

We drove off in great excitement to present the trophy to the very kind gentleman who had loaned us the car for all these summer events and parades. He seemed really surprised!
