"It was imprudent of us, in the first place, to become authors. We could have become something regular, but we managed not to.
We were lucky, but we were also determined." Roy Blount Jr

"I don’t change the facts to enhance the drama. I think of it the other way round, the drama has got to fit the facts,
and it’s your job as a writer to find the shape in real life."
Hilary Mantel

Sunday Stroll: More Promising Signs, Indoor Version

Bracing for a blizzard. Big Nor'Easter on the way tonight, snowfall projections are far from conclusive. March is definitely coming in like the proverbial lion. The first flakes of Phase 1 are beginning as I type this.

But here inside the Lodge, it's springtime.

With flowers...

Azalea

Crown of thorns

And fresh young green foliage

Lavender

Bonsai citrus

Passionflower

Nell Gwyn's Ivy
(Revenge theft, because she stole my gloves during a previous Sunday Stroll!)

Kalanchoe

Last year's birthday gift, English boxwood from my parent's house

This year's birthday gift, shamrocks from the Chap

And last, but certainly not least, my traditional birthday bouquet, with flowers selected to be fully opened at mid-week for the actual birthday day.

The daffodil is an appropriate flower for this First of March. It's St. David's Day, the Welsh National Holiday, when folks wear a daffodil--or a leek--pinned to their clothing. In honour of the Welsh patron saint, and my Evans and Williams heritage, I'll take the daffodil, thanks--in my opinion leeks are for eating, not wearing!

To stroll some more, stop over at Aisling's place.
